What is tree protection zone fencing?

Tree protection zone fencing is a type of safety fence that is installed around trees, and sections of vegetation to safeguard the tree trunk from damage during construction or other works. This type of tree protection fence is highly visible and is available in a range of colours, sizes, and materials to suit any project site.

Site areas that require protective fencing are usually marked up on Environmental Management Plans (EMP). However, Vegetation Management Plans (VMP) may also indicate where TPZ layouts need to be implemented. The entirety of the tree protection zones will take into account the physical location of any vegetation and established trees as well as the surrounding ground areas that are identified as containing the tree roots.
