Hydro Mulching and Seeding

Advanced Group is the preferred supplier of environmental protection products across Australia. We supply and install a wide range of erosion control devices to protect creeks, rivers, and natural resources during the development phase of construction and beyond. We work with businesses within the mining, civil, and construction industries providing affordable and reliable erosion control solutions.

Protecting the environment is important to us, so we’re always on the lookout for new and innovative environmental protection solutions. One such solution is hydro mulching and seeding. To find out how this fertilisation process can benefit your business or project, read on below or speak with us about your revegetation project today.

Seven reasons you should use our hydro mulching and seeding services

1. It’s Quick and Simple

Hydro mulching and seeding are faster and easier to apply than traditional seeding methods.

2. Saves Money

This revegetation process is more cost-effective than laying turf or hand seeding.

3. More Effective

The hydro mulch mixture holds moisture which encourages greater rates of germination and supports faster vegetation growth so you see quicker results compared to traditional methods.

4. Offers Erosion Control

Hydro mulching minimises erosion of the soil and therefore supports strong and healthy vegetation growth.

5. Versatile

This method of revegetation can be used in a range of rough and difficult to reach terrains as well as in harsh environments.

6. Saves Water

This fertilisation method actually retains water, so that means there is far less water required during the plant establishment process.

7. Completely Non-Toxic

Hydro seeding and mulching is a completely non-toxic and environmentally friendly seeding method, meaning it’s completely safe!

What are the Differences Between Hydro Seeding and Hydro Mulching?

Hydro seeding is referred to by many terms including hydro mulching and hydraulic mulch seeding. Essentially, hydro seeding is a planting process that uses a seed and mulch slurry to fertilise an area. This process is often used on construction sites as an erosion control technique. Hydro seeding or mulching is a more effective revegetation strategy compared to traditional methods of hand seeding, drill seeding, sod application and broadcasting and sowing dry seed. Although the terms hydro seeding and hydro mulching get used interchangeably, there are key differences between the two processes. Our expert team can easily identify which of the two processes will best suit your revegetation project – so you can rest assured that we have made an informed choice based on your site specifications.

Hydro Seeding

Hydro seed is a slurry mixture used to distribute seed and fertiliser in hard-to-reach areas and terrain. Hydro seeding is an effective seeding method typically used when other more traditional planting processes can’t be actioned. Special hydro seeding equipment is operated by our skilled professionals to cover the designated area evenly with the hydro seed mixture. The mixture is easily sprayed using a hose which uses water as a carrier to spray the seed and fertiliser onto the seedbed.

Hydro Mulching

Hydro mulch is similar to hydro seed as it is a slurry that consists of water, seed, fertiliser, tackifiers and biologically active soil conditioners but fibre-mulch is also added to the mixture. When the fibre-mulch is added to the slurry, it covers the seed which helps it to retain moisture. This then results in faster growth and germination as well as protects the soil from erosion and from the seeds washing away during storms. This is the main difference between hydro seeding and mulching as the hydro mulching mixture is still applied the same way as the hydro seed.
